The reason I have priced my apps at $0.99 isn’t because I’m trying to undercut the price of the competition (and in fact I’m not sure I even have competition for my apps, I haven’t really checked.) The reason I price them that way, is that is what they are worth. They do one thing, and I hope they do it well, but really if you want to time how long your baby is taking a nap for, you aren’t going to want to pay $10 for that luxury.

Of course, I can afford to do this because writing these apps is not my full time job. And it is only me writing the apps. Some app developers choose to start their own companies, hire out developers and artists and lawyers and get office space. That is all nice and good, but it drives up the cost of the app and if the utility of the app doesn’t match then guess what? You aren’t going to be able to sell enough to pay for the developers, the artists, the lawyers, or the office space. That is life. That is how all companies work except for banks. If you are a bank and you screw up, you can beg the government for money and they will pay you in the billions. Car companies? Yeah, you can try but apparently someone in the government has a brain after all.

I’m not telling anyone how to run their businesses, if you want to start your own business selling iPhone apps go right ahead. Just remember, if your apps don’t sell and you lose the shirt off your back, please don’t blame Apple and don’t blame other application developers. Your company, your risk, so please stop complaining.

This song is the single dumbest thing I’ve heard this year. Allow me to post the lyrics for the portion of the song that really pisses me off:

Talks real slow? Seriously, when you talk really slow can your mom not hear you? Were you hurting THAT HARD for a rhyme? How about low? Doesn’t that work better? I mean even that would be dumb, because you can talk in a low pitch and still be loud but “slow” is really REALLY reaching don’t you think?

This is why I don’t listen to the radio. Yes I’m a music snob, 100%. But if they put this shit on the radio (and don’t get me started about that crap that “Fergie” puts out about her humps) then I never want to listen to the radio ever again.

One thing that we’ve been seriously considering lately is the Apple TV. I figure if I get an Apple TV and an eyeTV I could get rid of the standard/digital/DVR packages and save possibly a good $50 a month. In half a year the Apple TV/eyeTV would pay for itself, and I’d get to keep watching all the TV that is bad for me.

Of course, we have some luxuries that we would miss. The ability to record 2 things at once. The ability to watch some of the standard cable channels (The Food Network, USA, Discovery, … … … ok thats it for me) … but some of those shows you can buy over iTunes anyway.

We’ll keep the cable for now… but if they don’t do something about their extreme pricing soon they’re going to lose a customer.

Of course I could stop watching TV all together since it rots my brain… … … nah.

In other news, no baby yet.

Why ban touching? Well apparently the principal is worried that someone will see someone giving someone else a high five and think “well if HE is giving a high five, why can’t I punch someone in the face?” No, really… the guy is that stupid. Here’s a quote:

Shades of gray? How does this idiot run a SCHOOL? I can’t wait for Ava to goto school… she might get expelled for sneezing (also known as distributing a possibly deadly virus into the air.)

I guess that means this monthly “car payment” will be $400+.

I hate my car.

As with most shootings, Jack Thompson and friends (this time in the form of Dr. Phil) stepped forward and said basically that the kid was driven to do this because he played violent video games. Of course.

So who’s getting sued this time? Well lets peruse the search warrant to see which games he was playing to prepare for his little blood bath. Lets see… digital camera, books, Dremel tool…. where are the video games? Well hell, he didn’t have any!

Thats right, he didn’t have any video games in his possession. So there you have it, one of the most horrific shootings in history, NO link to video games.

I think we need to focus on what is causing all this violence in our country, and stop looking for people to sue.

I went through the masses of CDs I have in my car because I’m starting to get tired of the same CDs over and over again, plus I have some new ones that I want to burn. But there are so many of them, some of which I have no idea what is actually on it (most of my CDs just have dates on the label, and CDs that have actual albums also have random songs after them… I like filling up CDs.)

My car doesn’t play MP3 CDs and even if it did, most of my songs are from iTunes. I have a car adapter for my iPod, the only problem with that is whenever I get in the car I’d have to plug it in and tune the station… which wouldn’t be so bad if my trip to work wasn’t 10 minutes.

Apple seriously needs to make an iCar… just a big hard drive you stick in the dash… that would be sweet. Until then, I guess I’m going to be struggling with my iPod because I think the relationship between me and my CDs is over.

This is why I hate the media. They make the terrorist’s jobs EASY… all they have to do is TALK about the possibility of doing something like carry liquids onto a plane to completely disrupt our travel plans.
