Less substance, more filler.

Why music these days sucks

July 28th, 2008 Posted in Rants

Di and I were in the car the other day listening to the radio, flipping through stations. She came across this song that is apparently one of the hit country songs these days (iTunes says #89 of all genres at the moment) called “Our Song” by Taylor Swift.

No offense in advance to anyone reading this that might like that song. Music is totally a matter of opinion.

This song is the single dumbest thing I’ve heard this year. Allow me to post the lyrics for the portion of the song that really pisses me off:

Sneaking out late, tapping on his window
When we’re on the phone and he talks real slow
Cause it’s late and his mama don’t know

Talks real slow? Seriously, when you talk really slow can your mom not hear you? Were you hurting THAT HARD for a rhyme? How about low? Doesn’t that work better? I mean even that would be dumb, because you can talk in a low pitch and still be loud but “slow” is really REALLY reaching don’t you think?

This is why I don’t listen to the radio. Yes I’m a music snob, 100%. But if they put this shit on the radio (and don’t get me started about that crap that “Fergie” puts out about her humps) then I never want to listen to the radio ever again.

Get off my lawn!
