Advance Autoparts on Western — I salute you!

Ok, so here’s the deal. I got myself a car stereo that will hook up to my iPod. Nothing very fancy, but better than what I had. I installed it myself (got it through Crutchfield so they make it easy)… unfortunately when I disconnected the battery, the bolt holding the battery wire snug to the terminal broke. No biggie, a bolt is a bolt… how bad could that be to replace?

Well come to find out, they don’t have that same bolt…….. anywhere. Except from Ford. See Ford Focuses have SPECIAL leads that no other car uses. Only Ford won’t just sell you a bolt… they need to replace the whole terminal lead… which would cost $90 i parts ALONE.

Of course I said hell naw, and was planning on going to a junkyard when I decided to swing by Advance to see if maybe they had SOMETHING that would work. The guy said “No, you would have to replace the whole lead.” Well damn. But then he said it would cost me $1.50 to get it from Advance. Great! Only I don’t know the first thing about how to install one of those.

“Is your car here?” he asked. It was. “Let’s go put it on!”

He worked on it for about 10 minutes, and finally (after cutting himself and most of the cables in there) got it fixed. Good as new. And the dude wouldn’t accept a tip!

So hats off to you, Advance Auto Parts on Western Boulevard… you just saved me $98.50!

Oh and Ford? Go fuck yourselves. Again.
