Mac Ads: It’s about time
May 2nd, 2006 Posted in Rants, TechnologyWell Apple finally got off their asses and made another ad campaign, this time targeting PCs (sort of like the switch campaign.) Not sure how I feel about this particular campaign (look for yourself) but at least its not the same ol’ black silhouettes dancing around with iPods. Personally I’d like to see some ads that actually, oh I don’t know, SHOW THE OPERATING SYSTEM. You can say all you want about viruses and crashing, but how about having someone open up a normal web browser and having the operating system underline misspelled text as you type a blog post. Fresh out of the box, no plugins. Or using expose to find a window. Stuff us Mac users take for granted, but are really REALLY nice. Instead they have 2 guys standing there, talking.
In fact out of all the Apple AND Microsoft ads, I don’t think I’ve ever seen one that shows the operating system. Out of either. Thats odd. Thats like a McDonald’s ad advertising a burger but not showing a picture. … Well come to think of it, maybe they’re onto something…
